They are the real monsters.
— Dracula on humans after telling Johnny of the tragic death of Martha.

Angry Humans are the overarching antagonists of the 2012 animated film Hotel Transylvania. They are responsible for the death of Dracula's wife Martha, which caused Drac to harbor a strong hatred for humans.

Biography[]

Not much is known about them, but they strongly despised monsters and vampries. When they found out that Dracula and his family are vampires, they proceeded to burn down their home of Castle Lubov. As Dracula tried to calm them down, some humans managed to sneak into the castle and kill Martha. After Dracula escaped with their baby daughter Mavis, he was completely changed ever since the death of his wife; he developed a strong hatred for all humans and became overprotective of Mavis to the point where he strongly feared for her life and safety, such as forbidding her from entering human society and would do so through any means necessary. Moreover, as he believed that humanity is a threat to all monsters, since humans were responsible for Martha's death, this drove Drac into constructing Hotel Transylvania, which not only serves as a luxurious hotel but also as a fortress of solitude and protection where his daughter and monsters of all kind can hide and survive from humans.

It is not known what happened to the Angry Humans afterwards but as Vlad said he taught Dracula to hate, kill and steal some humans, there is a possibility that Dracula returned to the village and killed them as revenge for Martha's death which explains why no one besides Dracula knows the true story. For many years and into the 21st century, where humanity's fear and hatred of monsters became obsolete, the angry humans' reputation from long ago continued to have a huge impact on Drac and his hatred for humans continued to remain strong as well as his overprotectiveness of Mavis. This would go on until 2012 where Drac now realized that humans now tolerate monsters, and this discovery led him to leave his old hatred behind.
