Monster Pets is an animated short film.[1] The short premiered alongside The Mitchells vs. the Machines on April 23, 2021 in select theaters.
Plot[]
The short starts with Drac waking up in his coffin. He gets out of bed and walks down the steps of his bedchamber in a tired manner, only to be squashed by a giant red ball. Knowing who is in his bedroom as well, Drac lifts the ball off of him, and says good morning to Dennis' giant monster dog, Tinkles. Tinkles wants to play with Drac, but Drac tells him that he is too busy to play with him. Tinkles responds by licking him, and Drac tells him to stop and that he said no. But Tinkles continues to bug Drac to play with him, and Drac continues to give him the same answer, followed by Tinkles' ball being dropped onto him. Having enough, Drac asks the giant puppy if he had anyone else to play with, then gets an idea: Tinkles needs his own pet companion to play with. Later, Drac calls Tinkles into his room, telling him that he has a surprise for him. Tinkles peeks through the door and sees a cute little dog named Cinnamon. Cinnamon sees Tinkles and looks at him in shock. Tinkles runs up to him excitedly, but Cinnamon, shocked by his size and appearance, flees. Seeing the sad expression on the Tinkles' face, Drac tries again, suggesting that Tinkles needs a monster dog, and makes a dog from a piece of Blobby and calls it Blobby Puppy. A happy Tinkles runs over and drops his ball onto Blobby Puppy, causing him to splatter to pieces. The pieces bulge up into more Blobby Puppies and run off. Later, Drac introduces Tinkles to Poochie-Stien, a dog made out of random dog parts. Tinkles looks at him with concern, thinking that he's weird. Drac tells him that Poochie's not that weird, but after seeing him rearrange his body parts in 3 different and random ways, Drac tells Tinkles that he's right. Drac later introduced him to a mutant frog named Swampy, a fire-breathing chihuahua named Diablo, a spiked-dog named Spike, a gargoyle named Pebbles, a 9-foot Golden Retriever named Tiny, a snake named Slithers, a shark named Sharky, a tentacle creature named Mr. Tentacles and a brain with telekinetic powers, but eventually all but the last one were not really the perfect monster pet for Tinkles. Looking at the last one, which appears to be kept in an egyptian-styled carrier, Drac hopes to himself that this one works. Introducing Tinkles to the last pet, Drac opens the carrier and sand pours out, much to his surprise. The sand piles up into the shape of a pointy-eared creature. The sand glows and transforms into a female black cat wearing Egyptian attire and style. Drac is smitten by the cat, but then Tinkles rises up behind him with a shocked look on his face. Drac, noticing the dog behind him, realizes his mistake when Tinkles roars at the cat and sends Drac to the ground. Terrified, the cat runs off and Tinkles chases after her, running over Drac in the process. Drac turns into his bat form and goes after Tinkles. Tinkles chases the cat through the hotel into the lobby, as Drac tries to stop the dog from harming her. Drac hangs onto Tinkles' tail as he dodges several objects before crashing into some furniture. The cat runs toward the exit, only for Tinkles to block her path and open his mouth. The cat tries to stop, but she slides into Tinkles' mouth as he closes it shut, much to Drac's horror. Irritated, Drac walks up to Tinkles and asks him who is he going to play with now. But Tinkles, never really intending to eat her, opens his mouth wide to show the cat unharmed, covered in drool and wearing a disgusted and terrified expression on her face. Tinkles spits the cat out, much to her surprise, and proceeds to lick the drool off of her. Looking at herself, the cat meows happily and looks up at Tinkles. Quickly befriending him, the cat pets him happily, much to Drac's delight. Tinkles barks happily and brings his ball to the cat. The cat uses her tail to levitate the ball and throw it out of sight. Tinkles chases after the ball and the cat follows him. Satisfied that Tinkles found a new friend, Drac turns and starts to leave, only to be stopped by Tinkles. He looks up in shock as the cat lifts the ball up. Realizing what's going to happen next, Drac runs away and panics as the cat proceeds to squash him multiple times with the ball, as the short ends.
